How is Kinesio Tape applied?

Kinesio Tape is very stretchy and about the thickness of the skin. To apply it to your injury, we cut the tape to the correct size, then apply it to your skin using therapeutic techniques designed specifically for your type of injury. The tape provides a sort of brace across your muscle or tendon but does not cause pain or discomfort. You can shower and swim while wearing Kinesio Tape, which is left on the skin for days, weeks, or longer, depending on the injury.

Kinesio tape supports and facilitates motion

What is Kinesio Taping?

The Kinesio Taping Method is a specialized rehabilitative technique designed to support muscles, joints, and soft tissues. It involves applying a special elastic-like tape in specific places on the skin, over and around affected muscles and/or joints. Kinesio Tape provides strategic support to affected tissues, promotes proper healing, and prevents over-contraction during the healing process. While most people think of tape as restricting motion, Kinesio Tape is designed to support and facilitate normal motion. With this method, the patient can still be a full participant in normal activities, just with a bit of additional support. Just ask Olympic, professional, collegiate, and amateur athletes how helpful it can be!

What is Kinesio Tape used for?

The Kinesio Taping Method is a versatile treatment used for both chronic conditions and rehabilitation of injuries. We will assess your condition and determine if this method might help. It is most often used for sports injuries caused from overuse, but we also use Kinesio Tape for a wide range of orthopedic, neurological, and neuromuscular conditions, including everything from muscle strains to joint instability to tendonitis.

At Integrated Physical Health, we always tailor your treatment to your condition. We typically utilize the Kinesio Taping Method in conjunction with other treatments like chiropractic care, massage, and/or physical therapy.
